a mother cat with kittens who had no home or a unwed welfare mother with small children who keeps having one after the other?

I would help the cat because the cat is an animal and doesn't kow any better and doesn't ask for more than food and shelter while the welfare mother got herself into her situation and demands everything be given to her and her children who drain our social services.

Being a cat owner, I would say the mother cat and her kittens. As the welfare mother keeps getting herself into the situation that she is in and she should really know better, though I sympathise greatly with the poor kids that she keeps having.

Helping the cats is cheaper. But turn the question around: who would you rather let live homeless and perhaps starve: a kitten or a child?

The cat....I can afford to take care of a cat and her kittens. Cats can be spayed/neutered to prevent litters in the future, but it's a bit more controversial to spay a women.

Good question.......good point, but there may have been many factors that caused the woman's situation. Ofcourse, the cat is much more equipped to live wild than the woman.
