Sulphur dioxide + water ? sulphurous acid + hydrogen SO2 + 3H2O ? H2SO3 + 2H2 Sulphur trioxide + water ? sulphuric acid SO3 + H2O ? H2SO4 Nitrogen dioxide + water ? Nitric acid + hydrogen 2NO2 + 2H2O ? 2HNO3 + H2 As carbonic acid, formed by CO2, is an extremely susceptible acid, and the composition of CO2 in air is in basic terms approximately 0.03%, its influence on our ecosystem is negligible. it rather is in basic terms the artifical compounds of SO2, SO3 and NO2 that are the main culprits for acid rain.
