Why?

One of the arguments for plastic bags is that a plastic bag is recyclable. That IS NOT TRUE! Bags that are not lost in the wild enter the waste stream where they will most likely end up in a landfill. Though their voyage ends here, their LIFE DOES NOT. Because decomposition takes SEVERAL HUNDRED YEARS, they will remain for many future generations. While recycling is an option, it has proven ESPECIALLY DIFICULT with regard to plastic bags.

It is made from nonrenewable petroleum resources. Annual U.S. consumption alone requires an estimated 12 million barrels of oil. Aside from exhausting large amounts of an increasingly limited resource, the production and processing of plastic also requires the use of several toxic chemicals that directly contribute to the pollution of our air and water. In fact, five of the top six chemicals that the EPA reports generate the most hazardous waste are necessary for plastic production: propylene, phenol, ethylene, polystyrene and benzene.

So you kill a tree by using a paper bag. Well guess what? It is a thousand times easier to recycle a paper bag rather than a plastic one. And anyways, paper bags hold more, and can carry more weight without breaking.

So ask for paper! Kill a tree, but save the environment!

Trees are used for paper and Plasic is a lot more reusable and recyleable...I would say that Plastic is a better way to go....save a tree

Depends. I recycle both. Just depends on which (notice correct spelling) I need at the time.

I like papers for writing notes but i dont like paper for helping my mom filing.
