I have gone for 36 hours before. I very nearly collapsed. I then slept for 16 hours solid.

Dependant upon the situation: with or without stimulants (caffene). When considerably younger (10-12 years ago) I was able to go days without sleep. Problem is, it effects virtually all of your senses, your cognitive ability and decision making. If you are the only caretaker for the child, I would catch a 30 minute nap as soon as possible. I have had to do about 2 days without sleep recently, as I am an insomniac and have 2 children under 6. Due to illness, my then 2 year old son kept me up for about 32 hours. After that, my insomnia kept me up the other 16. Needless to say, I was very zombie-like @ work.

A little over 30 hours, when I finish night shift on a thurs morn I sometimes stay up and go to bed early hours of friday. So about 32 hours.
When you finally get to bed it wont take you too long to feel ok again.
Good luck.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.
