Because our population is a whole lot more than it used to be. Because people don't abuse their kids & get away with it anymore because there's too much talk about it now & people are aware of it. It used to go on behind closed doors & stay there.
Social workers also do a lot of good for people. I know they are thought of as the ones who are going to take someone's kids if they mistreat them, but they can also help you in a lot of ways.
I was referred to one who gave me a lot of info on a condition my baby has & helped us find a physical therapist for him.

Because more and more people are falling to the negative aspects of society. you cant place the blame on just bad parenting, or rap music. there are many different factors. Peer pressure, lack of social or formal education. Behavior can also be greatly influenced by environment. Socially unnacceptable behavior among adults and children is the reason why there is a greater need for social workers.

There will be heaps of reasons
Feminists got equal rights for women in the workforce & then it was expected that women work (so to speak ) & now they have to work unless the husband has great pay
so Mum is never home with her kids other people rear them
Kids feel unloved & end up screwed up. Dad & mum split up & that causes terrible damage to all the kids with more unloved feelings & then mum feels guilty & she gets messed up
then Dad feels the same & he may drink & even gamble to try & make more money & the list goes on & on & there is so much Stress everywhere so more & more social workers are needed
to cope with it all. I was lucky i worked before i had kids & got our home first

They are simply exploiting their niche. That, and we have sissified our parents and given so much power to the kids that any amount of discipline is now a form of child abuse, so we need more people to help us "talk it out." Malarky!
