I got a 5 on my AP Calculus exam, and so got to skip Calculus I in college. That meant I got to spend my first semester in the hell known as Calculus II. :/ :) (Granted that I'll forever associate Calc II with 9/11 as I found out about the Twin Towers on my way back from a Calc II lecture, but still, it was rough...) Of course, whether colleges will let you skip Calc I will vary from college to college. One other thing that was nice about getting credit for Calc I was that because I started with several credits (9 credits from 3 AP exams), I generally got to register for classes before most other people, which saved me lots of trouble.

As to applying to college (perhaps I got a bit ahead of things :) ), I definitely think that getting an A in AP Calc would look good. Of course, by the time the AP exam rolls around (presuming you are taking it your senior year), you should already be accepted into a college, and so all it will count for is possible credits.

Of course, if you are taking in Junior year, and thus have taken the exam before applying to college, that may be something which will raise eyebrows in admissions offices.

On a somewhat random note, perhaps the AP test I was happiest that I took was AP Composition (e.g. English writing), as doing well on that exam got me out of the required freshman writing course. If you have the option of taking it, I might try it, because it could save you a lot of trouble. :)

Definitely take ap calculus. Its break up up into 2 years for prime institution scholars and can surely duvet first semester calculus for universities. Some universities might say it covers you for calc one million and calc two in college. Either manner identification propose you do each in the event you find it irresistible. I am an engineering pupil and it was once the dumbest thought ever to take AP stats rather of AP calc. Stats didnt get ready me for something and engineering majors dont even want it. Take AP physics as good, it's not that i am definite what it'll entail however relying on what institution you move to, the calculus founded physics will probably be a lot more rigorous however you must take it simply to have a mild glimpse of what to count on. Generally it appears somewhat bit greater, plenty greater if you'll get A's and five's at the experiment. If you're going to get B's and three's at the exams then theres no longer particularly a factor to it.

Doing well in AP classes and scoring 4's and 5's on AP exams of any kind certainly make you look like a pretty good student academically. Anything you can do to distinguish yourself academically will always help your chances of acceptance by a college. Take note though, some of the upper-most echelon schools (ivy league and such) won't accept the AP credit itself, but it certainly still looks good on a transcript.
