I have 2 small (1 inch long) gold fish in an 20 gallon fish tank, i usualy have my music really REALLY loud and i was wondering if this hurt my goldfish in anyway, i heard once that goldfish dident have any nerves so if this is true, would the sound vibrations confuse the fish instead of hurt them?

I have two goldfish in a tank in my kitchen. If I am pounding something on the counter down from the tank, they DO respond to the pounding noise/vibration. If I slam a cupboard door close to the tank, they also respond to this. So yes, your loud music is probably driving them crazy.

Please turn your music down - for your sake. I rocked out every a.m. and p.m. in my car going to and from work, not to mention the stereo going full blast at home. 20 years later, I am now dealing with some hearing loss. HEARING LOSS IS INCURABLE. Once it's gone, it's gone. I know at your age you think it's no big deal, I didn't think so either. Trust me - it's a big deal.

I doubt its good on them or for them, let alone yourself. Fish do hear and yes, they can go deaf from loud sound. Sound carry's differently in water and while this is one of the things fish instinctivly use to alert them to predators. so your not doing them any favors in the long run, and of course, yourself either!

I will hope you don't end up looking for hearing aides I have! :( It isn't worth it!

You really should forget about your Goldfish, and concern yourself with your own hearing (and that of your neighbors being ticked off at your loud, disruptive, inconsiderate music).

Forget about the goldfish...worry about your own ears. Loud noises can make for a lifetime of ringing in your ears...it's just NOT WORTH IT!

I don't think it would actually hurt them, it would probably bother them though. I know I wouldn't want my home to be shaking all the time, especially if I were trying to sleep. But I would assume that they would eventually get used to it.
