You see football players do this drill a lot...legs spread in kind of a squat, bent at waist a little, and they lift their feet alternatley, quickly....what is that good for?

I just wanted it to stop, that's all I know....

Called sumo's Great for Core and power conditioning. If you dont have core you will not be good at football. Also trains balance and later you will be able to hit harder and move faster.
Theres good pain and bad pain
This is one of the good ones. Deal with it and get stronger. Whine about it and I promise your coach will find a player that is willing to do it and continue to play.

These 'exercises' you speak of are actually part of the birthing process.

It is chopping your feet. It helps work on your first step. Like getting off the ball when it is snapped. The quicker the better.

they stretch their hamstrings and legs. that way it prevents the pulling of leg muscles
