I may hate the KKK with a passion and all the things they stand for, but I will Fight to the DEATH to protect their right to say whatever they want...so long as they don't come knocking on my door to put their thoughts into action....
Is what the kid said disrespectful and disgusting, absolutely. Should he have the right to say it? Absolutely! Does everyone on the entire planet have a right to fight back with their words. yes.

Posting racist comments on the web is so sick and cowardly and not really a form of free speech ... he could've stood up in his local Speaker's Corner to say what he wanted and taken the consequences. Ha! Someone must be so really full of self-hatred to do what he did.
Freedom of speech is granted to us to use wisely and intelligently. It should never become a thuggish tool for abuse, insult or incitement to violence. And it isn't an open door for rudeness.
Anyone can say what they want to say in the right way. If they're not clever enough to do that, everyone would be disgusted and laugh them off. That is why this guy is guilty of being so much more than what he has been charged with - he's a faceless coward hiding behind perversions and hatred.
Many have pointed out that the jail term was more due to the child porn found on his website .. this I do not understand - was he making it or merely watching it? If merely watching it, then he is just a sick perv. and his racism has more violence in it, so that is the greater of the two evils.
A year in jail with people who do not tolerate creeps such as him will seem like ten years to him. Three years will probably kill him off ... never mind. The world will still be turning. Hopefully in a better direction.

Yes it is correct in the case you are reffering to its disgusting that a 30 year old man can do such a thing. I hate racisim.
A man who posted racist messages on a website in memory of murdered black teenager Anthony Walker was jailed for more than three years today.
Neil Martin, 30, emailed at least six comments to the website - less than a week after Anthony was killed with an ice axe in a racist attack in Huyton, Merseyside, last year.
The site was set up by a school friend of the 18-year-old. Posting under the pseudonym Genuine Scouser, Martin suggested that white people should celebrate the murder, that Anthony's family should be burned and made references to slavery and a "banana boat".

Some of that was for child porn found on his computer. If it had just been for the racist comments it would have been very harsh, thered be a lot of people in jail if that happened every time. Althugh the fact that he did it on a memorial site for a black teen that was murdered di worsten the crime...

The comments were a bit extreme too - and totally out of place. It was a site set up in memory of somebody who had been killed a week prior.
The statements he made were racists and suggesting/provoking violence.
He deserves more than a slap on the wrist.

Racism is wrong in any form whatsoever.
The person making it automatically dons the mantle of superiority where he or she has the knowledge and power to judge.
If by so doing the result of your remark leads to breaking the law then you as the instigator is equally guilty as those you have motivated.
It must be fully understood by all parties who promote or act in in a racist manner, be it an act of faith or otherwise, that racism is an offence regardless of creed.
Infidel or Unbeliever is a racist remark as is Musso.
The World reads our words.
The World judges by what it reads and sees.

At least two years of the sentence was for the racist comments. Unfortunately I suspect that the sentence was heavily influenced by the politics of the situation. I suspect he will appeal and the sentence will be massively reduced.
Something that should be taken into account is that we only know what the media tell us, which is usually only half the story.

He deserved it ... the fact that it was media driven probably taints it a bit ...
does freedom of speech include what kEN LIvingston said to that reporter ..?
People cannot just say any offensive thing they like ... and its a good thing. Next graffitti on gravestones and such will be called freedom of speech... well it is just writing.
Dr Bad
but they can say what they like ... at home

it can be... depending on local laws (ie, anti semetic nazi stuff in germany) and depending on the tone used (ie, calling for violence against certain groups)
what particular case are you refering to?
I see it..........yes, 6 months for the images was par for the course (it is a relatively small number of images, and the content would have been taken into account, too)
Race hate is a viscious thing and, the law in this country, says that promoting violence against a particular racial group needs to be punished under law
