what goes through the minds of those men that smear excrement on the walls of cubicles in public lavatories ?

i asked this question already in etiquette, someone suggested that posting it in psychology may generate some interesting answers

you people in psychology section have actually answered less, and less resolvingly than those in the etiquette section so far.

It is some sort of instinct to do so. What its purpose is I couldn't say for sure. I know a person that has done some social work in the past. At one point he had responsibility of caring for a young 8 year old child who was deaf and blind since birth. He told me that this child, for whom it was impossible to have received any significant social or cultural learning, did this very thing. It could be that it's meant to broadcast ones presence to other people when they feel no one else is around or feel isolated or stranded. It's just a guess though.

Something like this"I have to smear excrement on the wall of this public lavatory to see if someone places a question on Q&A of yahoo of course and then I'll review the answers" kidding aside,
it's probably something that make the person laugh a lot, crazy ain'it? or may be it's a revenge against the person that cleans up the place.

A mystery indeed. I think that such people do not have any mind at all and certainly do not have any thought or consideration for other decent human beings.
Same thing applies to those who throw rubbish on the ground when a litter bin is just a few steps away, and who destroy property for the hell of it.

Probably the same thing as women who wipe thier butts with the paper and throw it on the floor or leave their dirty femine pads on the floor.Women are just as much pigs as men.Makes you wonder what their house looks like.

Evidently not a lot!! They must have very little brain power to even think of doing that. It must hearken back to caveman times and be akin to male animals peeing to mark their territory only these 'Homo' no 'Sapiens' just use faeces istead!!

Well, whatever it is, it can't be good! :P Probably either they're mentally incompetent, high on some drug, or just love to annoy other people for the fun of it (sort of like Internet trolls do).

You will find that this goes on in european campsites... and it seems that the germans take delight in this as it seems to be a huge game to them
