The same reason gas tanks don't come with a straw. There;'s really no reason you should ever need a 'spoonful' of ketchup, and if you do, just squirt it out of the bottle.

They have tried different shapes and you can probably find them if you look, but people prefer the distinctive old fashioned ketchup bottle.

So when you shake it all the ketchup comes flying out in a great dollop. Then you have to go and buy more!

They were designed for restaurant use, and restaurants don't wont people using too much ketchup .
