This is in Calif. do all extinuishers need a sign

Your best bet is to call the local fire department to find out. If you have been in that location for a while (more than 1 year) and you haven't had a fire inspection (common in Michigan) yet, then you might not require them in California.

I say this as to not alert the local fire marshall to your where abouts.

Yes, here in California. Even if it's a bright red tank hanging there, the extinguisher company brings the signs when they install them. It's just something you're supposed to do. Along with scheduled maintenance on them. I had to have all mine checked twice a year, and couldn't just buy a little one from Wal-Mart.

In most states, you need to show an arrow indicating the location of the extinguisher. Check with your state's fire marshal's office.

I sign is needed much better if the sign is made from a luminous material why? Co'z If a fire broke-up and the electricity is down which means it's dark... Having a sign that luminates means....
