To straighten/support something- braces on the teeth straighten teeth. Braces for a spine can help straighten a spine. Braces on the legs can provide support. Braces on the neck hold it steady and support the head.

Some people have crooked teeth. So in order to straighten them out, that's where braces come in.

To correct the alignment of their teeth. The force of the braces gradually shifts the position of misaligned teeth.

I guess it depends on what kind of braces you are talking about. If you mean on the teeth I would assume because they want straighter teeth, if you mean on their legs I would assume because they want straighter legs or a straighter back. Are you noticing the pattern...wearing braces causes straightening.

I assume you mean "wear".
If you mean the teeth kind, to straighten them.
If you mean the trouser kind, to keep them up.
