Well kids only play the games that are passed down. So obviously we don't teach them that stuff anymore.

In our neighborhood, the children do play these fun "old fashioned" games. We have an only child and there's 4 other kids in the neighborhood that get together and play. They play ding-dong-ditch, running bases, and ghost in the graveyard.

I think the main reason some do and some don't is because of the way neighborhoods are set up. We live in a cul-de-sac and it's prime for these types of games - safe from traffic. There are also many kids in the same age group in the neighborhood. In old fashioned neighborhoods, where the streets are squared, you have to worry about cars and traffic. Also, if there aren't many kids of the same age group, they wouldn't have a neighborhood gang to hang out and play with. Another point - we shut off the XBox and other video games on summer evenings and force the kids out - this makes a big difference too.

Kids now a days just want to sit in front of the TV or computers and play their stupid games instead of being outside and enjoying nature. The reason for this is because this generation allows their kids to waste their lives in front of computers and TV. In my generation we played the games you mentioned. The children of this generation is missing a lot from my point of view. When my grand child visits you can be sure she is outside playing and not inside staring at a TV or computer.

They don't play those games anymore cause of the fact that we now have new technology. Their is video games such as PS2, Xbox , game cube, and gameboyes.. as well as computer games.. like war of the worlds and other things. Kids don't go outside anymore because of the fact they can sit in front of a television and play games. Thats their enertainment.

Parents today dont let their kids play with empty cans(thats dangerous), play in a graveyard( without parents!) and a lot of other old time games are just too dangerous for today.

cause we have other games to play now. Some of them more techically savvy, others just based on major league sports. other kids are just products of bad families who place them in front of the tube all day and never step foot outside.

Because it is much more convenient for their parents to stick them in front of a TV and put in a video game.
