oh. and native people, but since he thought that he had landed in the West Indies, he thought they were Asians.They had established nomadic places, so I imagine he saw a substance way of life completely different from what he was used to.

...and your 10 year old should be learning how to research this stuff. You will help him MUCH more if you work with him at a library with a librarian's help to find books where he might be able to locate the answer. You can also help him by showing him how to use a search engine. You're not helping him by finding this stuff for him.

I would immagine he saw some trees, and some sand, and maybe a rock or two.
