I've been having this problem for 3-4 years now whenever I buy a pair of jeans .. when the waist fits, the jeans is too long for me; and when the length is good, the waist is too tight for me! What am I supposed to do? I'm 5ft 4inches and slim so i know i should be able to find jeans easily

Most stores have long, regular, and short lengths. I'm the same height and have the same problem. Sometimes I'll try the sort though..and they're a little too short. I don't want any high waters now! So, you can wear heels, deal with it, keep looking, get them tailored, or sometimes get lucky. Always get the right waist size though, b/c it's not only uncomfortable but well, nobody likes to wear too tight of jeans! You can get that tiny bit of fat of skin that pokes up out of the top and makes skinny people look fat! Eeeek. Usually mine shrink up though after washing a few times.

Learned this from a gal pal of mine: Always buy jeans according to how you want the waist to fit: lowrise, highrise, etc... Then get the leg length tailered to fit. Determining the length will depend on whether you want to wear the jeans with high heels or flats. If the jeans have a worn-in look cuff, the tailor can cut that off and sew it back onto the jeans so they will keep their original worn-in look. Tailoring adds a few more bucks to the price of the jeans, but hey, isn't it worth it for a great fitting pair of jeans!

The length is easier to bring up, but the waist is harder the to take in, so find jean that fits your waist first. Some name brand jean (The Gap has ankle length that fits short people like me perfectly) has sizes for short, med, and long. Or you can look for jean that is 30" inseam or have it altered in, most of the dry clean places has alteration. It cost about $8-10/pair. I normally altered mine. (I'm only 5'1")

I have a similar problem - I am only 5'1 and slim so when I buy jeans they are too long and the waist fits. I now find that certain stores sell short, med and long lengths such as Old Navy, Gap and NY & Company. If you still are not satisfied I suggest finding a taylor..

Well, keep on looking. Sometimes i buy my pair of jeans on the right waist, and i get a professional, if you do it yourself it's ugly, to shorten it. Look out: you can't do this for every model of jeans.
There must be places where you can find the right size.

I have a friend with this exact same problem. She finally found jeans that fit her perfectly at the Gap. They are a bit more expensive than going to Wal-mart, but she doesnt have issues with jeans that dont fit anymore..

Good luck.
