I am a freshman at the University of California at Berkeley and I was thinking about some majors. I know that freshman dont have to have a major so soon but I really would like to double major in Sociology and Mass communications. At first I wanted to major in Social Welfare but I decided to do something less concentrated. Anyone out there with advice for this 18 year old young woman?

I've always though that Sociology and Communications were the fluffiest of the fluff majors. You are at one of the best universities in the world -- why not challenge yourself?

If I were at Berkeley, I'd take lots of mathematics, economics and classes at Haas. Wait a minute: I was at Berkeley -- and that is what I did!

Seriously -- think about getting into Haas as a junior.

Mass comm is good, we can all use some good PR. Sociology will also give you a good understanding of your audience. Both of these majors will really help in Marketing. my 2 cents.
