Mine lasted about 3 weeks, which seemed like forever. Heavy at first and then it lightened up by the end(spotting). You should have stopped by the time you have your 6 week check up.

The average females cycle is 28 days but, some women have shorter cycles even half that time and some women have cycles that are double that average. After giving birth your cycle might change but, that's normal. If you are concerned, you should talk to your doctor.

If I understand your question, you will continue to bleed for a few weeks but it will change in color and consistency. The blood at first will be bright red then get darker more brownish, then it will lighten and turn more pale red, then it will change to a whitish color. Generally all bleeding should stop before your 6 week check up with your doctor. With breast feeding the bleeding tends to stop quicker but you may have more intense cramping.

I can't remember exactly, but I think it was about 10 days or so. It's worse than a normal period.
