positive: chocolate as a low GI score http://www.prevention.com/article/0,5778,s1-4-62-658-2636-1,00.html and it gives off chemicals in the brain that can elevate the mood of a person

negative: it is full of empty calories (has little nutritional value) and is the source of many food addictions due to it's ability to elevate mood.

Milk chocolate or dark? Both have a lot of calories, so consume in moderation. Milk chocolate may also have added chemicals, like high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils, all of which do MORE than pack on the pounds, those chemicals can raise our cholesterol and blood pressure ...but if you can find pure dark chocolate (I like hersheys, little dark chocolate squares, 4 is a serving), that usually doesn't have all those added chemicals and is just pure cocoa... that is a natural source of antioxidants and can actually be healthy. Plus, dark chocolate is naturally richer, so you may find after you have 1 or 2, you won't have the appetite to go back for more, so you will be consuming less calories. I'm getting my masters in nutrition, and I love food questions :)

I can't think of a negative to chocolate!!

Just kidding.... I'm sure that its high in fat and calories would be a negative.

Positive: tests have shown that chocolate relieves stress chemicals in the brain, and helps us calm down. It has also been proven to alieviate some of the side effects of PMS.. that is why women love it so much.
