I live in MN and live in the twin cities area, which is great if you want to shop or eat good food. For more of an outdoor experience Duluth, Lutsen or the Boundery waters are an absolute must!

I have visited the Twin Cities. Great places to visit include the Mall of America (the second largest mall in the United States. Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Il. is the largest) which includes an excellent indoor theme park and Valley Fair Amusement Park, which is operated by the same corporation that operates Cedar Point. There are two zoos - the Como Zoo in St. Paul and the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley.

If you are a shopper there are a few places to check out...obviously the Mall of America which is located just south of the airport in Bloomington. 4 levels of shopping, restaurants and an indoor amusement park. There are also outlet malls spread out, the best one is in Albertville which is 30 miles nw of Minneapolis on I-94.
Downtown Minneapolis also has a great nightlife and is fun for all. Shakopee has an amusement park, the renaissance festival and many other things. I live in Sioux Falls which is 3 hours away from Minneapolis/St Paul area and it's a great getaway....enjoy!

I live here and your not missing much =) I do have to say though it is very lovely up North during the fall and all the way up to the Boundary Waters close to the Canada border. Love it up there. If ever up there go to the Gunflint Trail or do a canoe portage. Absolutely indescribable in my opinion.
