wtf?? fore the only thing that is scripted is the incident that happen backstage, but not the match.
do u people think the ego superstar like triple h just gonna lost to cena at wrestlemania bcos the script said so?
do u think its easy to tell which superstar should win in royal rumble match that involve 30 wrestler?
the move..ect might be fake...but my point is wrestling match results is not scripted.its up to the wrestler to wrestle and win.am i right????

yes, it's true, they are scripted. read the rock's autobiography, or mankind's, from about 10 years ago, and there are chapters describing weekend trips to the ring to meet the opponent for the week to plan out the match and run over the moves. the rock even said that he goes through each match completely backwards-- from the finishing move to the entrance-- so that he knows it inside and out. the moves are all intended to inflict the LEAST harm possible, so that wrestlers' careers will last. when you see a chokeslam, he's really lifting his opponent up, but the rings are padded with synthetic material that softens the blow. these guys are no doubt great athletes and in incredible physical shape, but unfortunately, wrestling itself is nothing more than a really hyped up, violent soap opera. sorry.

I did not take the time to read through all the other posts, but I can give you a definitive answer. Wrestling finishes are scripted. There's no way around it. Also, any major spots in the match are scripted (chair shots, big jumps etc.) If you watch a match closely, you will see the two wrestlers talking to one another, telling each other what move they want to do next. Every wrestler also has signature spots they like to work into a match. For example, John Cena in every match will hit a 5 knuckle shuffle, and finish with either an FU or an STFU. Another example is HHH, who likes to hit a high knee and a face smasher prior to his Pedigree during a match. The phrase for losing a match is called "jobbing", as in that's you're job. These guys are performers. Certain performers have a little more sway over their storylines, which is what destroyed WCW back in 2001, but all finishes are scripted. The only time a finish gets changed mid match is when a wrestler gets injured. If you get the chance watch the movie "Beyond the Mat", you'll learn.

They know who is going to win in advance. Most of the time. Every once in a while something goes wrong and the wrong one wins. A battle royal match often doesn't go as planned. There is also what wrestlers refer to as a "shoot match" when one guy is getting out of line and needs to be reminded where his place is.

That said they don't go over every move or stunt before hand, the "heel" (bad guy) choreographs the match as it goes on. There is a guy outside the ring that helps do this. The referee relays the signals from him.

As for Triple H, he is married to Vince's daughter Stephanie, and whatever is good for the business he will do. You don't get the respect he has in wrestling by not following the company line.

And no you are not right, the wrestlers are not in charge of who wins that is up to the GM backstage and the script writers that write the story lines.

Read Stone Cold's book about his career in wrestling. It is good for fans to understand how they do things.

No, you're not right. Wrestlers do what's in the script. Sometimes wrestlers need to put their big-a** egos aside and job because Vinnie and the writers tell them to. On the other hand, wrestlers that are the caliber of HHH, HBK, and the Undertaker are very influential backstage and can therefore make suggestions to the creative team without being called egotistical or arrogant. Anyway, the bottomline is, if the writers decide that HHH is gonna lose to Cena at Wrestlemania or anywhere else, then that is what is gonna happen.

The story is scripted but the matches are not; the blows that they take are real; I don't think it's easy to determine which superstar will win the Royal Rumble. I think there's someone we want to win but, it may or may not happen. The moves are not fake; yes, the superstars involved have to cooperate with each other if it's a slam or something but, the moves are not fake. I know this because I watched Tough Enough and have been watching wresting since I was in the first grade.

They r scripted and the scripts r boring now a days. U want proof? Proof 1 - when there is a long dispute between a good and bad guy, the bad guy always intrupts in good guy's matches and beat till whenever they want. But when good guy does so, officials quickly come out 2 intrupt. Why? because people will be intrested 2 see a good end of the story and it will increase their trp. Proof 2 - A tag team match. both men of bad team works together on 1 man of other team and his partner is distracting refree so they can do it easily(though he acts like he wants 2 save him) & refree is also included. he sees on other side but at last good team wins. Now u understand. there r many more examples if u observe it closly.

Are you right? Well, a little yes, but a lot no. All matches are planned in advance and the wrestlers rehearse before showtime and know how long the match is supposed to be and who is going to go over (win). However, unexpected things do happen during matches and the outcome may have to be altered on the fly, so to answer your question, it's both.

Watch any WWE produced DVD, Vince McMahon himself says they are. Wrestlers are getting paid to do what they do, so of course losing is not an issue. They're being paid out the but to lose and win. SO, YES, they are most certainly scripted.

Gotta face the music, dude. They have rehearsals just like actors before each show, and they pick whose going to win based on the storyline and/or popularity. I felt the same way you did a couple of years ago, when I found out that in all the sex scenes I seen in Hollywood and late night cable movies over the years, not one of the actors and actresses had any real sexual intercourse with each other. Not one! (The men and/or women placed a thin nude patch over their privates to keep that from happening) Man, I was ticked off! My illusion was completely shattered!
