My son is 11. I thought he knew better than to accept anything from strangers, but apparently not. So my question is, other than reiterating to him the dangers of communicating with people he doesn't know, what else can I do to ensure this won't happen again? And why would some stranger just give a kid money anyway? Everybody knows that's inappropriate.

My son was very clean and neatly dressed in a white polo shirt and navy slacks....his school uniform. Also he does not walk like an oompa loompa.

It could be an opening - give the kid a dollar one day, the next it's "you know me - I gave you a dollar yesterday", the kid feels safe, and the door is opened for anything to possibly happen. If at all possible confront the woman, give the dollar back, and sternly ask that she not do this again. Explain to your son that not everyone is his friend and it is not safe to accept anything from a stranger. Explain to your son that by accepting the dollar it brought him within close contact with a stranger who could have at that moment snatched him. Some police departments have programs in which children are advised on how to handle certain situations. Do your community a favor by having such a program presented at your son's school.

That's pretty freaky. But I don't know one kid who would pass up a dollar if offered to them. Just reiterate what you have been telling him about not talking to strangers and trust he will make the right decisions when you are not around.

i'm having complication beleiving that your son replaced into given vodka in college by a instructor, being it is against the regulation to have it on the valuables. in case your son truly got here residing house inebriated, he and a few pals probably have been given into it far off from college and are blaming it on the instructor. i could pass to the faculty and set up a meeting with the important, and make your son contain you and that i think of which you will locate that the instructor did no longer provide it to him. to reply to your unique question, your son is underage, it quite is not important what your husbands opinion on the priority is, in case you reside interior the U. S., a fourteen 365 days old can no longer acquire alcohal by an person, or that person will pass to detention center, so if this truly befell then the instructor needs to be in complication. i'm sorry i hit upon this confusing to beleive, yet because of the regulations govern the colleges, this truly is basically approximately impossible, and if it did ensue that instructor needs to be brushed off. i'm no longer asserting which you in my view are making up this tale, yet your son could be.

Not knowing the person means not knowing motives, etc. But I usually try to look for the positive and do know of good spirited people who willingly donate just to be helpful and to enjoy the thought of maybe helping lighten the load of another. Doug

I used to get money from strangers in Thailand after they pinched my cheeks. Who knows, maybe he knew that stranger.

My suggestion: Explain that money is a good thing, but you want it from the best places. You want to earn it or get it from people you know on birthdays. Other ways usually mean they want something in return or want to do something bad to you.
