Since medical errors are the leading cause of death in the U.S., why isn't there a charity to help prevent this, like there is for cancer or MS?

The charity is known as "suing for malpractice." I would guess that most people who can actually prove that a family member died from medical errors either get a nice settlement from the doctor/hospital or can sue for an even nicer chunk of change.

A charity wouldn't change this. Basic awareness and conscientious care can prevent medical errors.

I do not think there is a need for that. Most medical errors are made when they are trying to help the patient who is going to die anyways. Medical errors is not the leading cause of death in the US what are you smoking? Heart disease and cancers are number one and now they are thinking Obesity. Also how are you going to help someone that is dead by giving them money they will not really need it then.

The US also has some of the best drugs and treatments in the WORLD meaning lots of people would die if it was not for the same people who make mistakes sometimes.
