It takes a few weeks. Look, I smoked for like a decade, 15-25...recently I wanted to get a new job and I thought I'd quit for a while just to help with motivation. It was hard for like a week, then I thought about it less and less, until finally after a month I was fine.

It's not physically addictive, but it's a habit and you definitely do miss it for a while. You don't know what to do with yourself. I smoked so much I didn't even get hungry unless I was baked. But seriously, after about a week, you start to get over it.

I'm not the type to take the AA "I'll never touch it again" approach either. I've been stoned since then. But I'll never go back to the every day pothead thing, cuz it does start to interfere with your life in subtle ways.

Once you like it, you like it. It does not mean you have to have it.
After a few weeks, the "pain about missing it" is all in your head.
