Pre-Med, Med School and an Internship (Residency)

Obviously, you need a medical degree (MD) to become a medical doctor. Most medical schools require a bachelor's degree to get in (I actually know someone who got in after his Junior year of college without a degree -- so this is not set in stone). No particular degree is required -- though many doctors major in Chemistry or Biology. Most schools list the coursework that is required for admittance.

you need a BA or BA with pre-med classes. A lot of students get a BS in Biology or a BA in History with pre-med concentration. Then, of course, you must go to medical school to get your MD.
