Perumpuzha is one of the beautiful villages in Kollam District, Kerala. Kundara is the nearest town. Kundara is linked with Kollam by rail and road; a distance of 14 kms. Large deposits of China Clay discovered here, helped in the establishment of the Government Ceramics concerns. The Aluminium Industries (ALIND) is one of the leading Indian firms manufacturing aluminium cables. Kundara is famous in history, for, it was from here that Veluthampi Dalawa issued the famous Kundara Vilambaram in 1809. Velu Thampi Dalawa of Travancore, did much for the improvement of the Kollam town. He built new bazaars and invited merchants from Madras and Thirunelveli to settle here. "

Memorial for Dalawa

KOLLAM June 23. The Sree Veluthampi Dalawa Foundation based at Kundara, near here, has announced the construction of a memorial for Veluthampi Dalawa at Elampallur in Kundara. The memorial would be a column to be constructed at the site from where Dalawa made the historical Kundara Vilambaram in 1809 against the British. At a press conference here today, the president of the foundation, N.K. Premachandran, MP, said the memorial would be completed in a year. The memorial would come at plot of two cents allocated by the Kundara grama panchayat."
