Because it's funny. We know people are going to smell it and blame, and the thought of keeping something naughty a secret is funny to us.

It is usually an embarassed laugh. Sometimes its unexpected or they didn't want it to happen. In other situations it can relieve tension. People can relate to each other because we have all done it before.It's just something unexpected and that usually causes people to laugh. Its a natural reaction, thats all

Nervous laughter, because they feel nervous from embarrassment. The laughter is an attempt to assure them they can laugh and humiliating situations.
