I don't think its racist (the term now seems to change its own definition every once in a while), but it's more of a prejudice. You're making a statement that all Jewish people are cool. I wouldn't take offense personally, but to be tactful I'd rephrase it. Like, "Wow some Jewish people are just so hilarious! They crack me up!" That way its less of a broad statement.
If you don't understand the logic here, imagine this:
Would people think its ok if someone ran around saying "Man, white people are just so damn awesome! I just can't get over how great white people are!"
The assumption is that other groups or races are not as good.

I think it would be. Why not just say "That guy is cool and funny" Even in a good way you're singling them out by name. Also, I dont like when say there's a white man and a black man (or any 2 races) and someone says for example to someone else refering to the 2 men..."Ya give this to the black man"...Hmm why can't it just be "Give this to the man in the white shirt and black pants" It's touchy...but still racist in my opinion. Funny, nice, cute top whatever it may be should be directed to them as a "person, man, woman" not race .

Why would that be offensive, now if you said "Mel Brooks is one funny heeb" that might be a little racist but I dont think so. Merely mentioning ones race or religion isnt racist...dont fall into the politicly correct trap of tiptoeing around this stuff.

Racism is hatred or discrimination based on race, therefore by definition for something to be racist, it has to be negative.
So if you say jewish people are cool - that can't be racist.

I get so tired of trying to keep up with the latest "PC".
If you are truely bashing, you'll know it. We all belong to groups, it's part of who we are. I get stereotyped because of my job and my belief in God all the time. So...
NO...if it's meant as a compliment, it's not racist..

Yes I would take offence, when you generalize you are setting people apart from others which is the basis of racism.

The fact that you have to ask shows what you already think. It is prejudice if anything (pre- judging...) Maybe all jewish people aren't funny >.>
