Babies aren't hard work, toddlers, children, teenagers are hard work.
Don't get me wrong i have a 15 month old son and i am a single mother and he is a handful at times (okay most of the time) but now i have him i wouldn't be without him.
It can be tiring and sometimes you feel that no matter what you are doing you are never doing things right but children are also very rewarding and they may not reward you all the time but when they give you that little smile after a whole night up you know that it is all worth it, trust me.
Being a parent allbeit a single parent or not, is a full-time job and people seem to miss this alot, you have to be there for that child 24/7 no matter what their age. It is something that should not be taken lightly

It really depends on a lot of things! First and foremost every child is different. If they child has any type of disability or illness they would of coarse be a little more work than one who didn't, although even the most 'normal' (if you want to use that term) child can be a handful. It really depends on how much work and effort you want to put into a child...I mean, there are those people who take their babies and strap them to a chair in front of the televission for most of the day (this is not much work at all), then there are the parents who take the time to find out as much as possible about raising children and spend every waking hour catering to their childs every need. You really just need to find what works for you, and I think that if the right amount of love and enjoyment is there then it won't be viewed as work at all! Children should be a joy to have around, not a chore. You get out what you are willing to put in.

Right now Im 5 months pregnant with my first baby (by the wy its a GIRLY...lol) well my sister has 2 babies a 1-1/2 year old girl and a 5 month old boy...I love my niece and nephew and when my niece was born we were all living together and I would ALWAYS tke care of her which I loved. YES it was alot of hard work...When your feeding them and they might throw up a lil bit I would FREAK OUT...When they would start crying out of the blue and you couldnt find what was wrong but let me tell you that everynight when I would put my lil niece to sleep I would just look at her and my eyes would fill up wit tears because of the love that I felt for her and seeing her happy would fill me up wit joy..Now imagine with my baby.
Its hard work and a life changing experience but just knowing that you are taking care of another human life and filling their hear wit joy makes it all worth while

Put it this way, i am having to survive on 4-5 hrs sleep per night this week as my baby has diarrhoea and is teething. There is no way that I can sleep during the day because he is too active, so yes they are very hard work!! But worth every minute!

Yes, more work than i thought, but so blessed. I wanted children my whole life and thought it would be so much fun and a peice of cake. Well its hard work and stressful, but rewarding. I am glad i waited until i was older and more mature before decideing to be a parent, i am also a daycare provider so i care for lots of kids but my son is a handfull 18 months. The hardest part is no sleep. But the best gift of all.

Depends on the baby! My first, now a year, was always happy, so easy going, as long as he was fed and changed, my life was much the same, just with an extra little guy to love and care for.
My second one, who is nearly three weeks, is a handful! He is most awake at night, fusses alot, sometimes cries just to cry, and always wants to be held (never set down for any reason.)
He's still worth it, though!

yes they are a bit, but that much. It depends as well on the parents. The hard thing is the nights when you've got to wake up to give the milk or change a nappy. But after, you realise how happy you are to have this little joy, your little treasure in your arms... A smile, his little fingers holding on of your finger so strong, the best feeling in the wold.
And later, the fist mummy, and I love you.
All worth it.
Good luck.

When they are first born and sleep a lot they aren't so much hard work as it is hard adjusting to your new life. But once they spend more time awake and as they get older yes they are very hard work. But completely worth it.
