Everybody knows he didn't care about New Orleans. As a result New-Orleans is becoming whiter because the whites have money to rebuild their houses and the blacks don't, to put it bluntly. I don't mean it to be racist although it may sound. fact is that it remains to be the truth. A year after, the city still seems a dump. The grandeur New-Orleans had, known all over the world and now reduced to nothing. I can't understand Bush didn't do more to restore the city because it is a symbol of the US after all.

That's so stupid to say! It is up to the local government there to rebuild! Money was given at a federal level. Money was given to help build the levies even before Katrina! but the dumb local government spent that money for their own personal gains. Secondly, when 3 days before Katrina hit, people said you better get out it will come this way, and basically drown New Orleans, you should do that. There is no excuse you had three days. I do not care how poor you are! If you have two legs that work, then your *** should have got the hell out of there. Now for the elderly and handicapped, they should have had friends and family to help them. And if they did not then that is the communities fault! The only ones screaming about this are the poor unintelligent people, that were already to dependent on the Government for Welfare!! So no I do not feel bad about New Orleans, it could have been prevented. And to say that a act of GOD ALMIGHTY is George Bushes fault is outright ignorance!!!

The homeowners of the New Orleans should have their homes paid for by their own insurance. It is not the job of the government to pay them for their losses. Although, the government has paid them some significant money even though not required. The government gets their money from me ... so I am paying for them .... and to a certain degree; thats ok .. but the majority of it is up to the insurance companies.

Did the government rebuild Homestead Florida? No .. so they are not responsible for rebuilding New Orleans. The have done lots to assist.

..and that Mayor Nagen is a complete idiot and should be removed from office. He is to blame more than anyone for what happened in New Orleans.

There's a zillion anti-Bush questions out there but if the other guy were voted into office then he would be the one being criticized. I find it interesting that people always want to find fault with the leader instead of looking a little deeper into the cause of our nation's problems.

As far as complaints are concerned, it doesn't matter who becomes our next president, it ain't gonna get any better. He/she will be criticized just as much, maybe more. Still, I feel an obligation to vote for whoever I think might serve our country better than the opponent.

We kicked God out of the schools, have been in the process of kicking Him out of our government and there's been rumor that "In God we trust" will be taken off our currency. And then people say, "God bless America" like they think He is stupid or blind to the fact that He is not so welcome anymore like He used to be!!!

Unfortunately America has turned her back on God. I hate to see what is going to happen to our country now. I have heard people that have been to other countries talk about the differences between the other countries and our nation saying that America truly is the greatest nation on earth. I believe they were speaking objectively and that it really is true. I believe that America really is the greatest country on earth.

It is to bad that she has turned against the One that blessed her so much that she could become so great and chosen the path that puts her into the hands of God's enemies.

Watch the next president and see if what I said is true or not, the complaining against our new president will be as bad or worse than the one we have now.

I wish I could see better things for our wonderful homeland. Nevertheless, I am thankful for the many, many wonderful people living here in the United States of America.

I like the first part of your question. Why is Bush even in office? Who were the voters who put him in for a second term? Didn't they see this coming? Killing off his own countrymen in the name of freedom. What a joke. He should take care of things at home and never mind poking his nose into other countries. But the apple doesn't fall far from the tree - George H. lost his second term because he couldn't straighten things out here such as medicare etc., and between the two of them, they've run the national debt into the trillions. Pretty soon American won't be a world power, it'll be a third world country begging money from Iraq and Afghanistan.

He's not the Mayor of New Orleans or the Governor of LA. It is not his job to tend to every detail of every city.

That whole thing fell apart because of incompetence in the local governments. Neighboring states sustained equal devastation and dealt with it appropriately.

Rescue efforts of this magnitude are huge undertakings and storms happen quickly. Any effective response would require a team effort on all levels of government and even on a personal level.

The city and the state abandoned the city. They just sat back waiting for the feds to save their butts. Why is the Mayor of New Orleans and the Governor of the state still in office. Seriously did you call for their resignation also or are you just Bush bashing.

Lots of conservatives are on here spouting off about how it's a local- and state-level problem, and the federal government should stay out of it.

I understand the basic, fundamental conservative belief that the federal government should be smaller. I tend to agree with that notion.

Then why does the federal government feel larger and more cumbersome than ever?

And if a true Reagan-conservative believes in fiscal responsibility and reduced spending, then why has this particular conservative in office signed off on every single spending bill that's come across his desk?

If tax dollars are being spent by our government at a greater rate than ever, but the same government is absolving itself of responsiblity for state- and local- level aid, then where exactly is the money going? How are my tax dollars being spent?

Where is Nagan's responsibility? Why aren't you mad at Governor Blanco? I mean, if something happens in my home, am I responsible or the neighbors?

Bush did all he could. The Feds are NOT ALLOWED to do anything until asked by the state government. It's the way our laws are set up so that the Feds can't overstep their powers.

Why didn't Nagan use the hundreds of school buses to get people out of NO? Why didn't Blanco ask for help? Why didn't those people walk off of the highway to safety? Trucks made it in, so I know they could have walked out.

Sorry, I know you psychos hate Bush and are willing to ignore facts in order to bash him, but you can't win arguments with your lies.

Oh, think approximately to be kidding. the government (no longer Mr. Bush in my view...it quite is truly not his pastime) has spent thousands and thousands in New Orleans, and has plans to spend thousands and thousands extra. MY question for YOU is why so few human beings in that section have finished something to assist THEMSELVES? i understand one couple (count selection them!) who had sufficient coverage in improve, and have been able to change their residing house and the two autos. those human beings instructed me horror thoughts approximately swarms of human beings putting out waiting for a handout, and spending their daylight hours inventing new suggestions on a thank you to falsely earnings the present enjoying cards the government and the pink pass provided. If the community New Orleans government is any handbook ("do no longer touch those college buses!"), i'm uncertain we want do lots extra for those human beings.
