If you are not EU or American you will need what is called a Transit Visa. They are easy to obtain though, just go to you're nearest German Embassy.

If it is just a stop over for a connection, then usually no.
You can double check with your ticket agent to see if you need a transit visa.

If you want to explore the country then yes, you need a visa.

If you are a UK citizen, you will not need a visa for Munich.
Also, if this is your connecting flight and you will not leave the airport, you will not need a visa anyway.

Only if you leave the airport. Airports are non-national areas. Better check out at the Embassy!
