Perhaps she is just not been given the oppurtunity to be around kids that she can relate with and talk to. She could join a area club or girl scouts. Get her involved in activities where she can join in and get to know people. If she is withdrawling from society as a whole this may be a red flag to you. She may be entering into a dangerous depression in which case she needs you to help her find a good councelor to talk to.

Is this 12 year old you or someone you know. If it's you, be a friend to yourself first and then you can be a friend to someone else. If it's someone else, then befriend her. Start by finding out what you have in common and go from there. I teach my children to become a friend to the one on the playground who is by themself. We can all be part of the "cool" kids, but it takes a special person to be a leader, not a follower.

friends are needed in ones life, but you cant force it. She's only 12 so give her some time, let her make her own decisions for now. In time she will understand the importance of a great friendship, whether its a close family member or a classmate. We all need someone we can confide in.

Why doesn't she have any friends? Is she mean or rude, shy??
I guess I would say maybe counseling? Have you tried to assist her in locating friends? Boy's & Girls clubs, Youth Groups, YMCA, afterschool activities, girl scouts, any sports, dance, gymnastics. Surley there is something she likes to do.
