It seems to me that Yahoo has a problem with freedom of speech and thoughts. Esp Language. What gets me is that I posted two political questions (one concerning the recent school shootings that I posted yesterday) I asked. In my responces I had a number of right wing nuts that insulted me, knowing NOTHING about these subjects, quoting from FoxNews, and always pointing to their bloody shaky fingers to the left (Democrats), muslims, commies, and of course, us Canadians. Then I added more details, in where I quoted The Good Doctor (Hunter S Thompson) and I called them 'ratbastards' and pigf-ckers (I left the bad bad word out this time, ok sensetive folk... You probably never heard this language before and got scared... Cause, u know, after all, f-ck is just a word and really can't hurt you...).

I believe in what George Carlin once said- a word is just a word and can't hurt you. It all depend in the content and context in which you use the certain word.

And besides that, comrades, I get insulted by the feedback I get sometimes. Esp these attacks on Muslims- it seems y'all are scared shitless of these folks and always have to bash their beliefs. And most of these responces come from Christians!!! Don't throw stones!!! Cause evently you'll have to bend over and pick one up- and if your 7 and there is a Catholic priest behind ya... Well... Never say I didn't warn u...

I Adore GC, and yes people are super-sensitive and freedom of speech is being taken away in small doses that most don't notice it. It's sad. Most trade freedom of speech for a "safe langauge" that friendly for all and covers the truth. Its sad. A word can't hurt you, but an action can.

Your question covers a much deeper and more complex issue than you realize.

Where does your freedom of speech end, and my freedom FROM YOUR speech begin?

Better yet, who gets to decide those boundaries?

What about hate speech, whether it is against muslims, Christians, other nationalities or races of people, age groups, or any subject or group of people anywhere in the world?

Doesn't a person who uses hate speech have every bit as much right to say what they say as you have to use profanity?

Personally, I am not offended by bad language and profanity. I take profanity and bad language for what they are, a public announcement of the speaker's lack of vocabulary and the lack of a firm grasp of the English language and how it is used.

I do my best to ignore hate speech, and this is not always as easy to do as I would like it to be, because I disagree with it whole heartily and that too, is a public announcement of someones lack of understanding and education. As a Christian who holds conservative view points, I find myself the victim of hate speech quite a bit.

Our society has become so morally bankrupt and corrupt, I find myself having to support the protection of speech I abhor and disagree with just so my personal freedom of speech can never be limited. I am telling you folks, once one person's speech is limited, then no ones speech is free.

The absolute bottom line here is this ladies and gentlemen, whether any of us like it or not, freedom of speech HAS to cover ANY and ALL speech or it does not cover ANY speech at all.

I think that some people probably flagged your question. I don't know Yahoo's exact policy, but I would imagine if there is a flag their reviewers look at the question.

Freedom of speech should not be restricted. It serves two purposes: to allow people to disseminate their beliefs and to allow others to then judge for themselves what they hear.

It seems to me that you support the former but not the latter.

Your point is well taken, and I certainly agree with you in principal.

PS: Did you know that a spell checker is provided for your convenience when posting questions?

I found in my mail box a violation notice this morning my answer was deleted and I never use profanity. I called a Islamic extremist a person who murders people. I used as an illustration they murdered a nun because of what some old man said.
It was on the news, people! I didn't make it up.
Knowing this to will be deleted, what happened to freedom of speech?

Who cares what George Carlin thinks? He's just another entertainer. The whole thing is that Yahoo thinks that you can explain yourself without having to use profanity. If you can't well, you just ain't as clever as you think you are.

I agree with you, a word has no bad meaning unless you make it bad. I have a 2 year old son and he says every supposed curse and it is not derrogatory because we just use it in everyday language. He doesnt know it as bad. why can we all just talk like that.
