.com means it's a company site or just a general, non-specific one
.net is an alternative to .com for general sites
.html is a site written in html code
.gov is a government site
.ac is a university site
.co.uk is a British site
.org is an organisation or charity site
.ed is a school site
These are just some of them - there's way more but I can't list them all. Hope this helps though
