I'm about 8 weeks pregnant. I've gained maybe 2 pounds from my pre pregnancy weight. I drink lots of water and walk half an hour every afternoon with my mother. Does anyone have ideas based on experience for controlling weight while pregnant? I have so much more of an appetite now than I did before I became preggo!

DO NOT deprive yourself just to keep yourself looking thin.
Your body is making a baby.....and it needs all the nutrients it can get.....remember that!

And this doesn't mean gorging out on food every minute of the day........just as long as you take your vitamins and eating the right things you should be fine.

also it's genetics too.....my mother was swollen with us three kids. And I was just as swollen with my daughter. I was retaining lots of water.....so it all depends on how your body is.

Don't be so vain trying to look good......you're making a miracle happen! And this is the time to enjoy yourself and the only time people will be encouraging you to eat and pampering you!
So just sit back and relax and enjoy this time now before the baby comes! You have every excuse to hang out your belly now!
:)

And trust me....if you breastfeed.....you will eat EVEN more!!

Been pg, successfully to term 8 times, with little weight gain. Didn't do it by restricting the amounts of what I eat - baby usually did by reducing the amount of space I could stomach, though.

Drinking water is important, but make sure you're getting your calcium, too. It's not really how much, but what. If you're lucky, you'll crave the veggies and fruits and other healthier things. Get plenty of exercise, which helps get your body ready for the end of pregnancy and labor.

Don't sweat the weight gain too much. The average woman gains about 20 pounds. Half of that is water, baby and placenta. A lot of the rest of it is extra blood supply and growing uterus.

And don't deprive yourself of life's little pleasures. If you want chocolate, have it, but try the light bars. Instead of ice cream, go for the frozen yogurt.

Enjoy this time. It's but a short while!! Good luck!

Of course, you will have an increased appetite - but that may come and go. Don't be concerned about pregnancy weight - it serves a very healthy purpose. Just get what exercise you can, and eat really healthily and you will be fine. Every woman gains differently - I think the average is 25 to 35 pounds.

Eat more fruits and veggies. Also eat small meals throughout the day. 2 lbs isn't bad for 8 wks, it's probably mostly water weight. You should gain about 25 - 35 lbs by the end :)
