When I came from the US I brought my laptop with me and had no problems. The customs officers never even checked my laptop I did have to bring an adaptor in order to plug my laptop in but you probably won't have to worry since they use the same current as the UK. I think the plugs might be the same too. They use the kind that look like two thin round pegs as opposed to the US version which is two flat pegs and the grounded with a round peg in the middle below the two flat pegs. I did not like the egyptian system since it seemed that plugs were always falling out of outlets. They didn't stay in well.

They are now not allowing any sort of electrical equipment or liquids in hand luggage, as far as I know. Not sure if it depends on the airline though!
try phoning the airline and ask

Check it in and take a receipt of purchase with you, in case you have questions when retuning.

i dont think so, just to be on the safe side when you go through customs and they ask you if you have anything to declare, just tell them what you have on your persons, and verify if it is ok.
