I am due in about a week with my 2nd son. The doctor became concerned yesterday that I may have Toxemia. I went in with a migrane, which concerned him, but I am prone to bad migranes. So aside from migranes, what other things are there to watch for as signs? I would appreciate a full range of any symptoms, from the mildest to the worst.

What kind of time frame is there for this? A couple of days? Does it take a week or longer for it to get really bad?

Most people with this disease develope high blood pressure, swelling that doesn't go away and large amounts of protein in your urine (which your doctor can check for), Headaches, Bloating or water retention, Noticeably swollen ankles or feet (Some mild swelling during pregnancy may be normal.), Swelling of the face and upper body when waking up, Blurred vision or sensitivity to light, Upper abdominal pain, Nausea or vomiting, Seizures or convulsions

The first three answers are very complete and accurate.

However since you are so close to your due date, your doctor may choose to keep a close eye on you and possibly induce labour. This will quickly bring the symptoms to an end.

I was borderline toxemia for my first and third prenancy(boys), but not with my second (girl). I had minor swelling, but had high blood pressure. I had to see the doc every two days, and I had to do extra testing to watch urine, and babys heart rate. Two separate doctors chose to induce one a week early, and one two weeks early.
