Start with this story.
I personally saw this.
Two guys in a convertible, travelling down a numbered highway through a major city. Golf clubs in the back. A joint going back and forth between the driver and passenger. When the joint was done. The driver sped up to >30 km over the speed limit and proceeded to weave in and out of traffic, passing on the shoulder, etc.
They were out of sight in no time!
So much for the notion that stoned people drive slow!!!!!!!!!!!

well first off i must say good for you. it is so stupid that something so harmless is illegal anyway. maybe you should pass around some really good brownies if you know what i mean about an hour before youre speech. they might be mellow enough to sit back and listen. also a good point to bring up would be that the people who want to smoke are going to do it regardless of whether its legal or not. and if it was legal that would be a huge tax relief not having to waste so much money on fighting it and paying to imprison people, also if it was legalized it would be taxed and actually help the economy. good luck on youre speech, youve got my vote.

Definitely start with a cool story about someone on marijuana. Do you want to tell about my friend?
He was really cool. Always funny. Started getting into a lot of trouble at school. I wondered why he was hanging around some really wild kids. He started having sex a lot. (with several different girls). began stealing cars. He told me he was smoking weed.
He realized he could make lots of money quick if he began selling marijuana. That worked for a while; he decided to sell cocaine too.
Then, many times when I would call his house, his mom would say, "I'm sorry, baby. He's not home."
he was in jail!
cool story? no! cuz it's true. Marijuana leads to other drugs. It's dangerous.

If they are against then why would they come to hear you say it should be.
Also legalized to what point. I agree that it does have some useful purposes. Alcohol has as well and is too freely available.
Alcohol is legal and causes tremendous problems for society. Do you think marijuana would be any different.

Ya might start with a story about how Alcohol was illegal and tell about all the problems and crime associated with this in society and how it came to be legalized again. If you can get their attention thru this story (make it interesting) then start drawing parallels about marijauna. In most comparrisons, marijauna is much less harmful than alcohol. Criminalizing it just creates all the problems that went with illegal alcohol, but with a much less harmful substance. They still might not agree with you but at least you will have gotten their attention long enough to make them think about it.

We cannot control the black market, but the government should be able to control the national market!
If we legalize, this, one of the most harmless of all the listed drugs, don't you think, just like tobacco, that we should be able to control the amounts that go unto the market?
Give the alcohol sanctions in the USA, and the mafia bootlegging that followed as an example.

The wallet is always a good way to reach people. Why don't you research how much money the gov't spends on enforcing marijuana laws. Also include how many people are in our jails on marijuana convictions and how much money that costs. Include the cost of building new jails, which might not be necessary if we didn't incarcerate people for marijuana possession.
You might also emphasize the medicinal uses of marijuana. It is the best aid for people undergoing chemotherapy. You could research how many people have chemo every year. I wish marijuana was legal so I could get some for my mom who is fighting cancer.

First, because it is very easy to buy marijuna, so if you keep it unlegal and cannot struggle against it then you must legalize it, because as government you want to control this. Therefore, marijuna must be legalized to make its controlling enable.

Tell them that the best part about America is that people have the right to make stupid decisions. Think about if the Government can take away peoples right to smoke what else might they take away? It is not governments power to legislate what leizure activities we engage in. The illeagalization of marijuana is the government taking away our rights. You can't approach this issue from a view point of right and wrong you have to approach it as a matter of the government taking more control of its people.
