Water is the key. More is better but motion is bad. A river is good, a boat on a river is even better. Rapids are not good. Lakes can be okay but it needs to be a small boat, not a speedboat or something. Yachts are a big plus if you're doing the ocean thing.

Paris is the most romantic place in the world. However, romance depends on the couple. It is important that love is present, not just physical attraction. When you love somebody, the place is secondary. You might be in the most romantic place but when you fight , it is nothing.

Usually the simple places are best. a nice corn field in the middle of nowhere on a warm sunny day, a picnic and a bottle of wine. or sitting in a quiet garden on a warm clear summers night watching the stars.
Niagara falls and other such wonderous places can be very romantic, but it does tend to get spoiled by the large crowds.

I would say places like Hawaii, Fiji, Bora Bora.....
to me anything with ocean and palm trees ......
and I also think that any place you go to and find a connection with through your experience will be your own romantic place.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder right?

Of course its who your with, but I cant imagine being swooned in a dump site, infact I would probably slap him!
I found that Borneo offers some great options.
Imagine a white sand beach at sunset, surrounded by rainforest. warm breeze sweeping past. Totally secluded from civilization. ah perfect!
Borneo - Kota Kinabalu!
plus there is an orangutan sanctuary!
