In Toyota, CE is base, Le is mid range, XLE is high end. The Avalon uses XL for base, XLS for mid range, and Limited for high end. SE, Touring, S, and Sport mean sport edition. In 4 Runners and Sequoias and Tundra, SR5 is more basic, Limited is top of the line.

Toyota uses ce, le, xe, xle
Honda uses lx, ex, se
I typed model letters for years, and have no idea. I know that SE stands for special edition on a honda, and that se is the highest for a honda. XLE is highest quality for a toyota. Le doesn't always mean "leather" or "luxury"...I have never bothered to figure it out.
