I believe exposing your infant to ANY music (except maybe death metal, which is jarring) is beneficial, anything with melody and rhyme. I played everything from Led Zeppelin to Tchaikovsky to Johnny Cash to Madonna for my babies (now 13-21). They are all three healthy and smart, have a wide ranging appreciation for music, read at an early age (one was 3), and have terrific writing skills.

All three of my kids have loved a wide range of music from early on. My youngest, now 15 months, cracks up at the theme song from the tv show Monk! Couldn't tell you why, but she's gotten a kick out of that song since about 6 months old. Watch your little one's reaction to the different styles of music or even specific songs you play.
I think whatever music a baby enjoys is beneficial. Music can make people happy and as Dr. Suess has taught us, "a person's a person no matter how small!"

Most babies enjoy a wide range of music. Just see what your child likes. Mine likes everything from classical to Elvis and bad 80s bands. She's an odd one.

Been some studies that link classical music to brain development, most suggested is Mozart. Any music that is of a soothing and rhythmic nature is beneficial, at least for creating atmosphere.
