Yes you do - And a parent never has "no parental rights" - A court will always favor the mother (thank God) - But a father or mother in fit mental and emotional condition has very many rights. - Maybe supervised or limited visitation, but many rights are set aside for biologicals. - Unless waived through adoption or state mandated custody. - Look it up in your state. - The saddest most pitiable drug addict is still entitled to be a part of their children's lives. - When safety is resolved, a family is encouraged to participate in the lives of their loved ones. - It's legal.

If that were my kid, I would fight for paternity rights and visits. I never had a kid, but I like little children. People who know me in the outside world will tell you that. I like playing around with my little nephews, nieces, and my younger cousins. They say I'm a big kid at heart. If I had a kid I would teach him/her how to throw/hit a baseball, how to box, and how to play chess just like my dad did with me. I would teach him/her how to build estes model rockets and plastic model airplanes or collect comic books like I did when I was a kid. I come from a large family clan. I would want the kid to know more about our family clan’s history.

Yup.
Shame on the parent who thinks that the law will excuse him/her from seeing that his/her child is properly looked after.
