It must have a CD player/writer and at least 2 USB ports. I don't understand the difference between processors but most of the sites I've looked at offer celeron in this price range. I don't know what else I should be looking for apart from memory. Which is the best brand? Dell, Hewlett Packard, Packard Bell?

They were advertising one reduced from £450 to £350 last night on TV. Think it was from PC World or Currys (owned by the same company). There's nothing wrong with Celeron. Also, you must realise that you get what you pay for and unfortunately £350 might not be enough to get what you really want. I hope you do find something though. Good luck.

Two manafacturers for your consideration Hp Compaq version which you can get form ebay.co.uk
this is the legimate arm of hp auction and you can buy end of line new machine with warrenty etc the other to consider would be acer www.acer.co.uk reliable brand and give you slightly more for your money than others though reliabiluty is key for me.

You should buy as big a hard drive as you can afford same applies to RAM and cd drive should be standard but if you take end of line should ve able to acheive rewriter
Good Luck!!

Check Dell on line and then do some comparisons in the local PC shops. You may find Dell has the most to offer for the price.
