your ignition key is worn out! you will have to get a new set( ie. ignition, door, boot and glove box key) or a new ignition lock system. in the latter case there will be two keys and after several months your old key may not lock or open other systems also. so, better to replace them as a set.

try replacing the switch, the key is like a switch it lets the flow of current travel thru out the car. and when it doesnt disconnect the current still flows. spray some wd40 into the tumbler on the switch.

i dunno... but i think its time for u to shop for a new car... your mid 90's toyota corolla is around 10 yrs old already... japanese cars are not made to last that long...
