Im south African. At the moment, all the planning of the participation of local businesses is still in the planning stages. However, you might want to think about starting a business in the hospitality/ transport/ other related fields. By at least 2009, businesses in those fields related to the world cup will get first preference when tendering for work. Even if you dont win any tenders, you will notice a very profitable increase in business. In fact, it doesnt matter what business you are in because all businesses are going to experience better results during that period as we are all linked to each other in some way. Good luck.

I agree with Claudy. Open a guest house, or start a small transport (taxi company) These will be vital during the World Cup.

As things stand Security and Healthcare will be the biggest needs. You should give it another 6-9 months to see if it is still going to be there. Sofar they have done little but talk and the word in FIFA is that if nothing has been done by the middle of next year then it is on its way to either the US or Australia.
