ipods are in my opinion are flimsy and vulnerable to breaking as they're so fragile. Go for the 'Creative' range more sturdy and equally as good for music and vid' playback. You will be looking to spend about £120 for a 20gb mp3 player.

I got a £20 player off ebay and its just as good as an Ipod. It stores around 100 songs and has all the features you could want, dont make the mistake of going for one of these stupidly big hard drives, who has time to listen to 15,000 songs in one go!?
The biggest mistake people make is thinking an ipod will give better sound quality, they're all the same cos its the headphones/external speaker that makes the difference. So, my opinion is go for a £20 1gb one off ebay and spend the rest on something else. Mine records voices so you can use it as a dictaphone as well, i dont think ipods can do that.

remember you only get what you pay for. i recommend the ipod video 30gb you can get it for 180 pounds on the net. it really rocks. i got over 3000 songs on mine also 20 full length movies.40 music videos and it's still got 10gb of space left. it's easy to use, it updates through i tunes on your computer, you can even put new games such as pac man on it through i tunes.remember i pod is the best selling system in the world there must be a reason for this.

Not an ipod at all - I would recommend the Creative Zen series - great quality sound as well as easy to use menu (without the RSI threat of iPods!)...

the new iPodvid! and iPod's aren't that fragile! i am a total klutz and I am awlays dropping mine, but I have never had a problem with it and I have had it for over a year! just don't throw it up against a brick wall! a nice cover/case helps to prevent scratches.....
creatives are a pain in the but to use, as in getting to the music you wanna listen to while your on the go

30GB Creative Zen Vision:M. It holds up to: 150,00 songs - Tens of thousands of photos - 120 hours of video - fm radio - and its better than an ipod.
