I think we all loved him because he was not only a entertainer and avid wild life enthusiast, but everyone could Identify with him. He was a son, husband and father. He came into our living rooms and really connected with us as a family man. He had personality and charisma. He loved life and the animals. But he also loved his family and it showed in his broadcasts. I'm sure he had just as many up and downs as we do. But he reached out and touched our lives and he was there to help not just the animals but his fellow man. But most of all we identified with him as a real person and family man and that is what made him more special to us. There are a lot of personality's on TV but Steve was able to come in our homes through the TV and it felt like he identified with each one. May God keep him safe in his arms and his family close to him. It was sad he died so young but I hope his family keeps up with his wonderful work. We could all learn a lesson from him. I got carried away.......... He was a mad man on a mission and that is what drew us in. We felt like we were there with him saving the crocodiles.

Because he was a nutter!! I think people sometimes seem to forget that he was doing a good thing, he just wanted people to be aware that some animals needed our help. He didn't just go around poking animals and avoiding bites, he wanted to teach people about Oz's wildlife! I loved the guy and I hope his children follow in his foot steps, although there will never be another Steve!

An entertainer, that's what made him stand out. He was passionate about his subject and that enthusiasm came across on the TV. Mind you, he was a bit bonkers though!

he was a legend and will be sorely missed for his wildlife campaigns and the way he just picked up anything that moves no matter how dangerous it was
