Do the following:

1. Open your computer case.
2. Reseat all devices/cards. You do this by pulling out the card (after removing the screw) and then re-insert the card into it's slot, making sure it is fully inserted. Do this for each card you have and also for the system memory (RAM).
3. Make sure your IDE drives are plugged in properly.
4. Try booting your computer again.

Usually the RAM check comes after the CPU test so I don't think that's your problem. Check if the RAM memory is inserted all the way into its slot on the motherboard. If the PC freezes right after or during the RAM check it could mean there's a problem with it. If everything is fine with it, then try checking the hard drive, make sure all the cables (inside the case) are connected properly. If it's ok then try checking that each connector in your PC is plugged properly. If that doesn't work either either one of your components is damaged or something is wrong in the booting instructions because you were messing around with your programs, so might either have to call a technician or call your computer brand's technical support if you still have a warranty and you are willing to speak to some guy in India for at least one hour.

You need to be more specific. It's not common for a processor to go bad unless the fan its not working. If you can open the case, check the CPU fan and see if its spinning. Try and get a diagnostics tool from a working computer and boot your computer with it. Search for Hirens, its a nice available tool for this purposes. It can tell you wether its the processor, RAM or any other problem.

Description is too vague... After RAM check, hit F8 and see whether you can get to the BIOS. If you can, change the boot sequence and boot off CD... this will allow you to look at software bugs.

If you can't get to the BIOS... then it is one of 4 possibilities. (In order of least severity)

1. Memory
2. BIOS screwup
3. CPU
4. Motherboard.

Solution to 1: Chances are not all memory is bad... so try replacing with the minimum to see if it at least GETS you to BIOS. If it does... replace bad memory. If it doesn't then proceed to next problem.

Solution to 2: Your Bios may need to be re-flashed. Find out who makes your motherboard... it will say it on the top edge of the motherboard. (Look for Asus, Motorola, etc...) Call them for help.

Solution 3: Barring this, you are looking at a new CPU. If you are fortunate, borrow one. If not, I suggest looking up your motherboard specs on something like powerleap.com and see if you can upgrade it to a new (cheaper/better performance) processor.

Solution 4: Barring all of these things... drop kick your motherboard and buy a new PC.

I had the same problem a month ago. I had to call a professional to come fix it. I was told that it was caused from starting to down load program and not finishing it. You should never down load something if you don't have the time to finish. It confuses the computer with not enough complete info. It cost about 50 to 80$ to have some one come out to your house and clean it up. No you should'nt replace it.

It is indeed a hardware issue but the only way to pinpoint it for sure is to replace individual parts. I would also tend to try replacing the CPU first in this case.

that would depend on your boot sequence. the porocessor starts the boot and usually the hard drive, CD or floppy comes after memory. try to get into BIOS or CMOS and run a diagnostic
