If you have windows 2000 or XP go to the start button, go to the run button, type cmd and press enter.
you will have a black screen. Type ipconfig and press enter. You will see your IP address.
If you are using Windows 98 or below go to the start button, go to the run button, type the command winipcfg and press enter. This will give you the IP address.
If you are using Linux or Unix, go to the terminal and type the command ifconfig
If you are using Mac OS 9 go to the apple icon, go to control panel, go to tcp/ip. This will give your ip address
If you are using Mac OS X, go to the apple icon, go to system preferences, click network, you will see your IP near the built in ehternet area
if you want the ip address of another computer.. umm theres tons of ways.. u can always sign into icq. and get them to sign into icq.. do a netstat to see what services you are connected to and on what port.. then send the dude a file ( a large one) when there is a connection to another netstat. you will see a new entry in netstat. that is the dns entry of the person.. u can ping it to find the ip address it points to..
or check the email header to see which ip it came from.. granted its not hotmail yahoo mail etc.. theyd need it set up on their pc like an imap or a pop

There are many ways.
At the command line try these,
ipconfig /all Shows IP info of the system
nslookup domainname or IP address
tracert IP address or with the -d switch
or try this,
http://www.dnsstuff.com
Have fun but be safe!
