Sometimes denial is the best form where religions are concerned-as it suits them!
And i agree with the other comments here-religious extremists who believe that homosexuality is "wrong"-are hypocrites and only quote things (i.e from a book-the bible-that was written over 2000 years ago!!) which suit them.
They only see homosexuality as a threat to their existence-as their "religion" forbids it. It is discrimination not religion-as any true religion should believe in free will-not brainwashing and creating a cult and rules that everyone should abide by-and not have a choice otherwise.
I am so thankful that i am not part of a religious cult and remain unbrainwashed!! Hopefully most of these ridiculous views will die with the pope, and others who follow it.
Everybody should have the right to choose and be free to live the life they wish. (unless causing harm to other people)
and it is this notion that should be the starting block for any true religion that claims to "love thy neighbour". Obviousley th epop wouldnt "love" his neighbour if his neighbour was gay...
Hypocritcy!

He should, but maybe he doesn't want to rish a schism with the African/Asian Catholic churches (just look at the Anglican debate). Whereas the 'Third World' churches are likely to be more keen on the abolishing of Limbo, considering the higher rates of infant mortality in these areas, they are often unwilling to compromise of the issue of homosexuality. The abolishing of Limbo also has the benefit of drawing more converts to Catholicism, a factor i'm sure the Vatican did not neglect to consider. I'd be genuinely interested to know how many homosexuals would consider becoming Catholic if the Pope made them equal to heterosexuals?

+ Limbo +
Limbo was suggested as the place where unbaptized babies went when they died. This idea was never official Church doctrine and has been rejected.
The church now says that it is not sure what happens to unbaptized babies when they die but she entrusts them to the mercy of God.
+ Homosexuality +
The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy. This moral doctrine is based on the Bible.
The Church specifically says that homosexuals "must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."
+ With love in Christ.

Cos he's the Pope! Obviously in today's current climate the subject of Limbo has been top of his agenda!! Limbo was set up as propaganda to ensure people had their child baptised.
Though, i take a pinch of salt with anything from a Catholic. I mean what's the point if you can sin away and then confess, to then do it again!! (I'll have cake or death anytime!!)

Add, why is birth control wrong to that.
I just love how Catholics can change the rules in the middle of the game. They change the rules, and what's a sin after all these people already died who committed those sins. What happens to all those poor souls burning in eternal damnation for eating meat on Friday? (Now that they can eat meat on Friday)

The limbo concept was introduced in the Middle Ages but doesn't have a relevant biblical verses to back it up, but anti-gay sentiment and verses can be found in the bible.

Because in the Christian Bible it says that Homosexuality is wrong and people who practise being 'Gay' should be shunned. While there is nowhere in the Bible where it says that children between a certain age would go to Limbo.
Hence one being Biblical and the rule stays while the other is not Biblical and has been scrapped.

Surely he's too old to be concerned about bending over backwards to dance under a horizontal pole. But maybe he's not too old be be concerned about bending over forwards to help gays. Well that's my "theroy" anyway.

As they would say in a shoe shop - "If the shoe fits wear it". In the Popes case it might just fit him.
The Vatican is full of hoofters.

Being gay is not that wrong. It's not your fault if you're a gay. It's the acts that you do that makes you a wrong person.
